Access for everyone

Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the EBSA Support Plan website and signed-in platform provided by Simplified Support Ltd. It was prepared and last reviewed on 12 September 2026.

Our commitment

We want parents and carers to be able to use this service regardless of disability, access need or the technology they use. We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2, at level AA.

As a service provider, Simplified Support Ltd recognises its duty under the Equality Act 2010 not to discriminate and to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. This includes considering access needs in advance and responding when someone tells us an adjustment is needed.

We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim that every part of the service fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. The barriers found in our current internal review are listed below.

Using the service

The platform is designed to work across phone, tablet and desktop, with browser text resizing and responsive reflow at up to 400% zoom. It honours the device's "prefer reduced motion" setting, and the main account, assessment, check-in, contact and workshop forms carry accessible labels and error messages. Workshop bookings include a space to request adjustments such as live captions, a quiet break or materials in advance.

Colour contrast

We use a fixed brand palette built around teal and dark navy, paired with semantic colour tokens for foreground text, backgrounds, borders and interactive states. Body text uses a high-contrast foreground colour on the page background, and muted text is reserved for secondary information so that the primary reading text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios.

Colour is never the only way we show meaning. Links are underlined on hover and identified by text as well as colour; required form fields use a visible label and "required" text rather than colour alone; error and success messages carry an icon and a text label; and status indicators on attendance, check-in and workshop pages include a written word alongside any coloured badge.

If you find a page where the text is hard to read against its background, please tell us using the contact details below and we will review the contrast against the WCAG 2.2 AA threshold (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and user-interface components).

Screen-reader support

The site is built with semantic HTML rather than generic elements, so screen readers can use the document structure to navigate. Each page has a single level-one heading; sections use ordered heading levels; navigation, main content and footer are labelled landmarks; lists use proper list markup; and form fields are paired with visible labels or accessible labels grouped inside fieldsets.

Informative images carry text alternatives (alt text), and purely decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology with an empty alt or aria-hidden. Icon-only buttons include an aria-label so their purpose is announced. Menus, dialogs and dropdowns use accessible component primitives that expose the correct roles, states and keyboard behaviour to screen readers.

Dynamic content such as form errors and check-in confirmations is announced through live regions where appropriate. We have not yet completed testing with every current screen reader, so the "Further testing" section below sets out what remains to be verified.

Keyboard navigation

You can move through the whole site using a keyboard alone. The tab order follows the visual reading order, links and buttons show a visible focus ring, and interactive menus, dialogs and dropdowns can be opened, moved through and closed with the keyboard (Enter, Space, Escape and arrow keys) because they use accessible primitives.

No action is triggered on focus alone, so moving the focus through a control never activates it unexpectedly. Forms can be submitted with the keyboard, and errors are shown inline with the field they relate to so they can be read and corrected without a mouse.

Every page begins with a "Skip to main content" link. It is hidden until you focus it with the keyboard, then appears at the top left of the page and moves focus straight to the main content, past the repeated navigation.

Known accessibility barriers

These are barriers confirmed in our current review. We have not listed possible issues as facts where they still require testing with assistive technology.

  • Testing with assistive technology

We have not yet completed a full audit with every combination of screen reader and browser, so some individual pages may still have wording or labelling that reads less clearly than intended.

What we are doing: We are working through the site page by page, and we fix anything reported to us as a priority. Please tell us if a page is hard to use.

Barriers we have fixed

These were listed as barriers in an earlier version of this statement and have since been put right.

  • Skipping repeated navigation

Every page now starts with a "Skip to main content" link. It appears as soon as it is focused and moves focus straight to the main content area.

  • Progress charts

The Progress page now shows the same week by week values as its chart in an accessible data table, readable on mobile and by screen reader and keyboard users.

  • Smaller controls

Buttons, inputs, dropdowns and tabs now use a target at least 44 pixels high, so they are easier to select on a touch screen.

Further testing

Manual testing is still needed with current versions of VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS, at 400% zoom, and with keyboard-only navigation across all signed-in journeys. Findings from that work will be added here rather than treated as confirmed barriers before they are verified.

Tell us if you need help

If any part of the service is difficult to use, tell us what you were trying to do, which page you were using and what device or assistive technology you use. We will discuss a reasonable alternative or adjustment with you.
